Art of Kirsti Alopaeus

Born in 1943 in Helsinki of Finnish parents who migrated to Venezuela when Kirsti was a child, Kirsti Alopaeus received her inspiration from the intense colors, the nature and the women of Latin America and the tropics. “The Latin woman is sensual, the sea is sensual and plants are sensual,” Kirsti would say, pointing out that in the places she found her inspiration, men were invariably absent.

Join us on a splendid tour of the vibrant colors and energy that constitute the works of Kirsti Alopaeus.

Kirsti Alopaeus, at her death in February of 2010, was living and painting in her home on the Riviera Maya in southern Mexico. Prior to moving to that area, she spent considerable time between her Mexico City Studio and the tropical beach resort of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero.
